Cartography of Intimacy
I create cartographies as a way to process intimate experiences about living with other creatures, space, time.
I use mostly natural materials so that the work evolves by itself within time and leaves quite no trace if it comes to be destroyed.
This point is very important to me as the zen instruction of leaving no trace. This is also a commitment for both economic and ecological reasons. Learning to create with natural materials help me to deal with more constraints than if I could buy or use any mediums. It also lead me to be very close to my process by smelling, touching, seeing nature at work within my own creation. Most of the time, I bring creations outside to take a bath before they come back home.
Cartography is also a daydream experience which forms a new territory for me to visit or introduce to others. My favorite elements are : inks, bark or plants, threads, and points of all sorts.
